Glass roofs

Today, glass roofs are just as common a roofing option as metal, wooden, and others. However, despite their immense size, the lightweight and transparent glass roofs still look simply fantastic.

Glass roofs create a sense of a spacious, light and air-filled room. Thanks to innovative solutions such as glass surfaces, the interior gains a unique touch.

Advantages of glass roofs

  • A unique decorative element for the home
  • Withstands high wind and snow loads
  • High durability of interior gardens. The stronger the frame, the better and brighter the interior garden eventually looks
  • Reliably protects the building from precipitation — rain, snow, and hail
  • Provides excellent natural sunlight for the upper floor, which is cost-effective in terms of electricity
  • Waterproof
  • Presence of a system for draining condensation and rainwater

Types of glass roofs

The structural possibilities for installing glass roofs place virtually no limits on creative imagination. However, most solutions are based on classic shapes. In addition to the classic flat roof, there are the following custom shapes:

Dome

Thanks to their dome-like shape, they offer increased impact resistance. They are often used in multi-storey construction to provide additional lighting for stairwells on upper floors.

Gable

Unlike other types of glass roofs, they prevent direct sunlight from entering the room. A budget-friendly option for glass roofs.

Pyramidal

They differ from gable roofs by the number of sides. There are also multi-faceted structure options.

Semicircular

Used in large spaces to increase natural light and consist of a complex system of glass roofs. They are used in workshops, warehouses, and sports halls.

Virtually all glass roofs have the same structure and consist of the following elements:

  • Frame. Unlike window frames, these products have an external edging required for installation in a roof opening.
  • Glass or polycarbonate. Plexiglass is another option. Such products are remarkable for high strength and elasticity. To avoid worrying about surface damage, it is advisable to purchase multi-layered skylights.
  • Hardware is installed when the structure has a leaf. It can be opened manually or remotely.
